Saw BEFS beat me to it, but I have to do a write up myself. Got to Brog
about 10ish. Wind was a solid 5, and it was bright & sunny. Julian was
rigging. He went for a 6.5m, so I picked my 6.3. To start with, the water
was absolutely freezing. It was really tough as I was quite a bit
overpowered. But after a few fall ins I started to get it right. Had a good
half an hour before I beached for a quick hand warm and a rest. Next time
out it was better, it had dropped a little. So I stuck out on my 6.3. An
hour later I was having a great time, getting most of the gybes, and not
even bothering to tack at all. Julian left to get back to the family.
People arriving were rigging 5.5s and 6s by now. Later I did a few neat
little jumps on the 1' sized chop. In again and it started to drop. The
"freestylers" as Tony calls them arrived and went out on and it dropped
more. By noon it was clouded over, and the bright sunshine on the starboard
tack was gone, and it killed the wind too. I stuck it out for another hour.
then packed up at 1pm. Good day it was for me! People were still going out,
but I was lucky to get the good wind earlier in the morning. Looking
forward to a little heat in the water though.....
Tony said there was a 63mph gust yesterday evening - scary.
